Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou born Beaumont, at Puy-deDomme, France on the 9th of August 1976. She is the oldest child of 4 children. Her parents were dentists as well as a teacher recognized and supported her love of theater and acting as early as she was a child. This overcame her initial ambition to become a primatologist due to her love of monkeys. Her meteoric rise as an actress in her early years was quick and marked by early success. Prior to beginning an acting career Tautou took part in Jeunes Premiers an French talent search TV program which was a part of Canal+ in 1998. She also won The award for the Best Young Actress for her performance in the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. Tautou studied at Institut Catholique de Paris, was a churchgoer as a young girl and was brought up Catholic. However she has since gotten away from her Catholic upbringing. Her acting and modelling careers were intertwined. She became the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc Chanel, and is often referred to as The Chanel Muse. In addition to her acting work, she has an interest in photography. She recently exhibited some of her photographs at the Arles Film Festival with the title Superficial. The focus of her photography is celebrities, fame and the media that scrutinised her after her rise to fame with Amelie. Also, she has a number of photographs featuring herself. Audrey Tautou's international recognition and popularity exploded after her role in the film as Amelie Poulain's main actress in the film Le Fabuleux Destin in the film d'Amelie. Amelie was a film box office successes and received acclaim at awards galas across the world. It is the most successful French language film to be released in the US. Following this film, Tautou appeared in numerous films ranging from British dramas and Jean Pierre Jeunet's long Sunday de Faancailles. After that, she shifted to Hollywood and appeared alongside Tom Hanks alongside Ron Howard in The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.
